[SystemSafety] underground trains without drivers

If I remember correctly the DLR accident was the first train through
following a possession and should have been driven in a manual mode (as a
"sweep" train). No passengers involved.
There have been some issues on the Victoria Line with the sensitive edge
doors and driver interaction in a degraded mode. ATO has been on the
Victoria Line since 1969!
Cheers
Peter

Re: [SystemSafety] underground trains without drivers
Gergely,
In the UK, the Rail Accident Investigation Branch investigates train
accidents, driverless or otherwise. Their investigation reports are
published at http://www.raib.gov.uk/ and I think that there are some
overview statistics in their annual reports. A very quick Google of their
site picked up two reports of derailments on the Docklands Light Railway,
and a number of incidents on the London Underground where the report at
least mentions Automatic Train Operation. You would have to read the
reports or ask the RAIB directly to discover whether automatic operation
was a factor in any of the incidents.
Regards,
James Inge

Hi there,
what is the current trend on to employ or not to employ drivers on
underground trains that would be capable of running automatically, and/or
with central control? I guess people usually stick to see a human being in
control.
And, is there a track record of accidents of driverless trains?
