The explanation could be a telemetry timestamp with a timezone error - easy mistake to make.

How does a telemetry processor know what time it is, or what timezone it's in?

The article suggests this based on receipt of engine telemetry data showing engines running until after five AM.  But the Guardian is reporting that the airline, Boeing, and Rolls Royce are all flatly denying receipt of engine telemetry from after 01.07:
