I'm dismayed to see even a hint of a suggestion that software engineers
know aught but Jack Sh!t about anything.

The problems are not technical. We *already know how to prevent* these
kinds of defects. The rot lies in the working culture (if one may call
it that) of the great unwashed software engineer. They won't start doing
any better until they start getting their arses sorely kicked for
screwing things up. Strict product liability laws are needed to drag
software engineering out of the ordure in which it habitually wallows.

On a bad day, I'd favour public disembowelments and drownings in
cesspools - pour encourager les autres. ... Nevertheless, I am,
honestly, trying to restrain further scatological invective and manifold
violent urges,

Olwen
