 From 35 years ago. Many people now active in road safety regulation were 
not born when the book was 
published. But a lot has changed since then.

For example, the book was published only two years after legislation requiring the use of seat belts 
in cars was passed in the UK. Pedestrian and bicycle safety was barely considered.
