Roger Kemp just sent me this fascinating account of what it was like in Lancaster at the beginning
of the month.

I think views on the technical issues are at the moment inchoate and evolving. First-hand accounts
from experienced participants/observers such as Roger are in my view essential for further thinking.

Germany experienced unprecedented flooding in Hamburg in 1962. Dresden has precise flood records
going back five centuries; only a few are from the "electricity era". I'll be seeing what German
electrotechnologists learnt from such events.
