It's been decades since I had any experience with HDLs, so please
educate me. Back in the days of ELLA, the HDL described the logic,
making the semantic gap between HDL and functionality fairly small, and
ELLA then compliled to a netlist. Has this changed with VHDL (or
whatever has replaced VHDL)?
