There is about to be sent out to the various National Committees a questionnaire on IEC 61508 to see
if there is a current need for "maintenance" (= revision, clause by clause). It has not gone out
yet, but the request for it to be sent out is dated today.

Given a distribution date within the next few days, there is usually a six-week deadline set for
responses from the National Committees. That takes us to early (let's say mid-) February.

If you have think IEC 61508:2010 should be modified, and your country has a National Committee
(participating countries can be read off from here:
http://www.iec.ch/dyn/www/f?p=103:29:6466208770918 ) then I suggest you get in contact with your
National Committee and proffer your comments in the next few weeks.

If enough need is demonstrated, through these comments, for "maintenance" (revision) to begin, this
will be decided soon and then comments will be fielded throughout the maintenance process, depending
on individual countries' procedures. Maintenance normally takes two years.
