The BBC story has the flight crew following the submitted flight plan.

The question this rises to me is why a flight crew didn’t recognise that they while they may have been scheduled for a flight to Dusseldorf, they were going somewhere else. A worrying lack of critical thinking.

Hi All

Here is and interesting one to ponder. Although the aircraft ended up in the wrong place it does appear to have done so safely.
I wondering how this happened as surely the aircrew must have realised they were flying north rather than south east.
