OK, so an update.
I genuinely thought there wasn't very much interest. I have been rapidly disabused of that view, not
only by public notes on the list, but through private emails. My proposal to close on 2022-12-31
came, I admit with some embarrassment now, just off the top of my head.
BTW, many thanks to those who have expressed their appreciation for running the list!
There is nevertheless a major issue which has been brewing. When we started, I had control over both
the means and the admin to get the List started and keep it running. But I have been retired from
the faculty for over five years. I have no means any more to assure any continuity. If the faculty
decides to shut the List down on Monday, for whatever reason or none, that will happen. That
situation has been worrying me for, well, five years. But interest in the List seemed to me to be
winding down, so I thought I'd wait it out until nobody cared any more...........
There is good news - people are stepping in to assure continuity. The list will continue in some
form. I won't shut the Bielefeld portal down until we have a transition.
